A full consultation with one of our Specialist Orthodontists is £125. This will include a 45 minute clinical assessment, a set of photographs and an x-ray if required. One of our Treatment Coordinators will talk you through all the options you are suitable for, and help you choose the right brace for you.
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, is a non-invasive imaging exam that uses radio waves and magnetic and field gradients to generate anatomic images of a body part. It does not use ionising radiation like CTs or x-rays. An MRI is used to investigate or diagnose conditions that affect soft tissue such as tumours, soft tissue injuries such as damaged ligaments and joint injury or disease.
Due to the use of magnets, people often worry that this could cause an issue if they have braces due to the metal in their mouth. Studies have shown that there is no danger to patients having an MRI scan while wearing braces. The small amount of metal on the teeth for braces will not have a bad effect on the MRI and most patients will still be able to have the scan. There may be a need for the patient to have their braces removed if it is their head, neck or throat being scanned. In these instances, the braces can distort the scan and prevent a clear image being generated.
Removing the braces is not something we want to do if it can be prevented. If you have been told by your Consultant that the braces need to be removed prior to an MRI scan, we will need written confirmation of this from the Consultant to the patients Orthodontist (via post or NHS email) with details of the area that needs to be scanned and the reasons as to why they want the braces to be removed.
In case multiple MRI scans are required following the initial one, we will wait a period of 6 months before replacing the brace. We would also require confirmation from the Consultant in writing that no further scans will be required before restarting treatment.
We offer a wide range of different treatment types to suit the individual, these include
Fixed metal braces
Fixed tooth coloured braces
Fixed braces on the inside of the teeth
Removable clear aligners
Not every patient will be suitable for all types of treatment, at your initial consultation we will work with you to create a plan tailored to your needs.
Yes! The majority of our adult patients come to us because their teeth have moved in later life following orthodontic treatment as a child. Teeth always want to move, especially as we get older we may notice our teeth beginning to crowd more. This happens whether you have had orthodontic treatment in the past or not. That is why we put so much emphasis on the importance of wearing retainers at the end of treatment. For this reason all of our Private treatment plans include both fixed and removable retainers as part of the total cost.
We have an allocated parking space at the practice for drivers who hold a blue badge. Please call our reception team on 01962 710880 prior to your appointment with us and we will make sure this space is made available for your arrival.
