WHO CAN HAVE NHS TREATMENT

Orthodontic treatment is funded by the NHS for patients under the age of 18 who have a clear health need for treatment.

An NHS orthodontic assessment is offered free of charge at Contour Orthodontists following a referral from your general dentist. Our Specialist Orthodontists will asses the needs of every individual patient based upon a set of strict criteria laid out by the NHS, this system is called the Index of Orthodontic Need. To qualify for NHS treatment, patients must meet one or more of these criteria.

HOW TO ACCESS NHS TREATMENT

At Contour Orthodontists, we are proud to be one of the largest providers of NHS orthodontic treatment in Hampshire. To arrange an NHS assessment, a referral must be made by a general dentist via the NHS online referral portal. Your child must be under 18 at the time of referral.

We do our best to accommodate as many patients as possible; however, spaces are limited. Once the referral has been received, a member of the reception team will make contact to confirm that your child has been added to the waiting list. When an appointment becomes available, contact will be made to arrange the initial assessment with one of our Specialist Orthodontists. We always aim to keep waiting times as short as possible and appreciate your patience.

WHAT ARE THE OPTIONS

If your child is not eligible for NHS-funded treatment, there are alternative options available. At Contour Orthodontists, we offer a wide range of private treatment options tailored to the individual.

These include a variety of fixed brace options, as well as removable clear aligners. All private treatment plans include a flexible start date, an oral hygiene home care pack, bonded and removable retainers for both arches at the end of treatment, and two years of aftercare once the braces have been removed.
