Ceramic braces are made of a tooth coloured material designed to blend in with the natural colour of your teeth. Coupled with white coated arch wires, this makes them much less noticeable than traditional metal braces.
The brackets we use have a ‘low profile’ design, which makes them more comfortable and less noticeable.
The brace is fixed to the teeth and cannot be removed. It is constantly working to move the teeth so there is no risk of relapse during the treatment. The brackets we use are directly bonded to the outside surface of the teeth and the patient can choose clear or coloured bands, which will be changed at each visit.
What are self-ligating braces?
Some of the brackets we use are ‘self-ligating’ meaning the braces work without using ligatures (the bands that other styles of braces use) to hold the arch wire in place. This means you can freely enjoy drinking black coffee and other highly coloured foods such as curries and tomato based dishes without worrying that the brace will discolour.
Self-ligating braces have small ligating doors which open and close for a more natural look. This is a low friction method of moving the teeth, which could reduce the number of appointments you need with us.
