How do I book a non-routine appointment?

If you think something is not quite right with your brace, please do not call the practice. Instead, send us a photo or an additional scan using your Dental Monitoring app. A member of our team will then be able to review this and offer advice. In many cases, a breakage can be left until your next adjustment appointment; however, if we feel it is necessary, you will be offered an additional appointment.

If you are an NHS patient and have an emergency outside of our opening hours and wish to be seen, please contact the NHS emergency helpline on 111, who will be able to assist you in making alternative arrangements.

What do I do if I am in pain?

It is normal to experience some discomfort during the first few days after your brace is fitted. Any tenderness in the teeth should settle within a week, and over-the-counter pain relief (such as you would take for a headache) can be used if needed. If the discomfort does not improve and you are concerned, please contact us via your Dental Monitoring App for advice.

You may also notice the brackets or attachments rubbing against your cheeks, which can occasionally cause small ulcers at first. This is normal and usually settles as your cheeks adjust over the next few weeks. Orthodontic wax can be used to reduce rubbing. Instructions will be given when your brace is fitted, and you can refer back to the video you were sent at your brace-fitting appointment if you are unsure.

If discomfort persists or worsens at any point during treatment, please do not wait until your next appointment — contact the practice for advice via your Dental Monitoring App.
