Our Nursing Team

We are looking for orthodontic nurses who are efficient, kind, reliable, and take pride in their work to join our high-performing team. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an appreciation for aesthetic dentistry are essential, as our nurses work closely with patients. Confidence using computers and new technology is also important, as these play a key role in delivering an excellent patient experience.

Our team works flexibly, and the role may include chairside nursing, reception duties, and working in the decontamination area.

We provide both external and in-house training and offer excellent opportunities for career progression within the company. All nurses must be registered with the General Dental Council and hold a recognised Dental Nursing qualification.

Our Reception Team

Our reception team plays a vital role in the day-to-day running of our practices at Contour Orthodontists. They are high-performing individuals with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Key qualities include efficiency, approachability, reliability, and a strong sense of responsibility. As the first point of contact for our patients, our receptionists create a welcoming experience and communicate effectively with both patients and the wider team. Confidence using computers and digital systems is also essential in helping us deliver an excellent patient journey.

Our Therapists

Orthodontic Therapists are qualified orthodontic nurses who have completed an additional year of university training alongside hands-on clinical experience. They work under the supervision of a Specialist Orthodontist and are trained to carry out routine orthodontic procedures.

At Contour Orthodontists, there is a clear pathway for career progression. Qualified orthodontic nurses can first progress to the role of Head Nurse, developing leadership skills while demonstrating excellent attention to detail and patient care. Those who show the required skills and aptitude may then be supported to undertake training to become an Orthodontic Therapist.

Our Specialists

It can take around 10 years of training to become an Orthodontist.

First, a dentist must complete a 5-year undergraduate dental degree. After qualifying, they gain further clinical experience, often working in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery departments and completing additional examinations with one of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons.

They can then apply for a further 3 years of specialist postgraduate training in orthodontics at a university and dental hospital. During this time, they learn how to diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with the position of teeth and jaws while treating orthodontic patients under supervision. The training is completed with specialist examinations through the Royal College of Surgeons and a Master’s or Doctorate qualification.

Once qualified, the orthodontist must be added to the General Dental Council’s Specialist List of Orthodontists. Only dentists who have completed this training and are registered on the Specialist List can call themselves an Orthodontist.

Orthodontists continue to develop their skills throughout their careers, regularly attending courses and conferences to stay up to date with new techniques and technologies.
